Holmes was right! It is easy to make mistakes in this world and it is hard to forgive. In “The adventure of the Blue Carbuncle,” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, James Rider steals a precious stone called the blue carbuncle. He is caught by Sherlock Holmes, but Holmes shows him mercy and does not bring him to the police. Clearly, Holmes has made the correct decision by letting him go. One reason is that it was right to show mercy. Another reason is that the man who was falsely accused will still go free.
