Let’s Get Started • Student Survey • Fill out in detail using neat handwriting and accurate spelling • “All About Me” desk plate • Start with pencil for images and words then color in neatly. Be sure your name is large and easy to see from a distance. • Take home papers – to be returned TOMORROW • When you finish desk plate begin reading through all papers. You may add in information you know neatly.
Who is Ms. Nolan? Ms. Nolan is a student teacher in our classroom for first semester. She will be learning with us and will assume a lead teaching role for several weeks before she graduates from UNCA. We are excited to have her!
Will these teachers treat me fairly? Yes, we will do our best to be fair, consistent, and treat each of you with respect. We expect the same from you. In this classroom and in life treating others, yourself, and the world around you with respect is the key to a happy, successful life.

Entering the Room • Please enter quietly • Turn in homework • Grab materials needed for day’s class • Have a seat • Begin the warm-up • Be working by the time the bell rings
Routines and Procedures • Attendance Check – When the bell rings, come in and start on the warm-up. • Tardy Students – first offense – warning. • If you are late to class, come in quietly, sign the tardy book, and put your tardy slip in the tardy-slip basket. Find your seat quickly. Do not disrupt teaching and learning. • Second offense – classroom chores in 15 min detention • Third offense – 30 min detention and one page paper explaining why you were late and how you intend to fix the problem.

Moving Around the Room • Make sure you go to the bathroom before class. We do not allow bathroom breaks during class. You may have ONE emergency bathroom break during class per semester. That means 2 for the whole school year. • You may use the materials in the classroom as needed as tools that help you proceed with the math task at hand. They are to be used wisely and with common sense. You are responsible for getting them and returning them on your own. • If you are unsure about whether using or returning a tool or material at a given time is allowed, ask a teacher.
Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.
Class Dismissal • The teacher dismisses you, not the bell. • Do not start packing up prior to the bell. • Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you. • When you leave the room should be clean. • All materials put away in their locations. • Your journals should be turned in VERTICALLY and neatly. • All papers should be turned in neatly to your basket. • All class copies of handouts should be stacked in their basket. • If portfolio work was handed it should be filed in your cabinet drawer.
