  7. Two black cadillacs • “Two black Cadillacs driving in a slow parade • Headlights shining bright in the middle of the day • One is for his wife, • The other for the woman who loved him at night • Two black Cadillacs meeting for the first time” • The first piece underlined, “Two Black Cadillacs” is symbolic of the two women in the man’s life in the song. One is his wife, and one is the woman he is having an affair with. The two black cadillacs meeting for the first time are really the wife and the woman he was cheating with, and they are meeting to plan their husband/lovers death.

  8. Two black cadillacs • “And the preacher said he was a good man • And his brother said he was a good friend • But the women in the two black veils didn’t bother to cry • Bye, Bye Bye, Bye” • This passage shows that the man was very good at hiding who he truly is. Clearly, the preacher does not know that he has been having an affair because he thought he was a good man. This shows that everyone in town thought that this man was a good person, except for the two women. They did not bother to cry because they know who he truly was and know what he has been doing to the both of them.

  9. Two black cadillacs • “Yeah they took turns laying a rose down • Threw a handful of dirt into the deep ground • He’s not the only one who had a secret to hide • Bye bye, bye bye, bye Bye” • By the women laying the rose down, it shows that they are having to put on an act in front of everyone else in order to hide what they have done. However, them throwing dirt in the grave symbolizes that they are the reason he is in the grave. They put him in the grave. “He’s not the only one who had a secret to hide” means that although he was hiding his affair, the two women were hiding the fact that they decided to get revenge by murdering him.

  10. Two black cadillacs • “Two months ago his wife called the number on his phone • Turns out he'd been lying to both of them for oh so long • They decided then he’d never get away with doing this to them • Two black Cadillacs waiting for the right time, right time” • This passage shares the story of when they plotted to murder him. His wife called the woman that he was having an affair with and they discovered his secret. They decided that he would not get away with it because they were going to kill him. So the “two black cadillacs” plotted and waited until the time presented itself to murder him.

  11. Two black cadillacs • “It was the first and the last time they saw each other face to face • They shared a crimson smile and just walked away • And left the secret at the grave” • The crimson smile is a symbol because at funerals, usually bright colors are not something you see. However, these women were not remorseful, hence the “crimson smile”. They were happy with what they had done because they thought the man got what he deserved. They parted ways and decided to never speak of it again.

  12. TP-Castt analysis • Title- The title of this song is “Two Black Cadillacs”. This title is symbolic of the two women in a man’s life with whom he was cheating on the other with. They decide to kill him to get revenge for what he has done, and their vengeful attitudes and plots are what the song is about. • Paraphrase- The song is about two women who discover that a man has been cheating on them with the other. They meet up and decide to get revenge by killing the man. They keep this secret from everyone, and they too have a secret like the man did. Everyone in the town thought that he was a good man, but they knew otherwise.

  13. TP-Castt Analysis • Imagery- Everything in this song is very dark and gloomy, which helps set the listener’s attitude. It helps you to picture the murder and to feel the revenge and hatred for the man that the women did. • Point of view- This song is written in third person omniscent because the singer knows what everyone is thinking and doing, but is not a part of the plot. • Symbolism- The two black cadillacs represent the two women who were cheated on. The roses that are laid down represent how the women are having to hide the secret. The crimson smiles represent the satisfaction they felt after what they did. • Attitude- The attitude of this song is very vengeful and dark. The person that is speaking is very sneaky and sly, and wants the two women to get revenge. They are planning and waiting, and everything is very thought out and planned.

  14. Tp-castt analysis • Shifts- There are no shifts in the song really. There may be a slight shift when the women kill the man from when they were plotting to. The attitude before they killed him was vengeful, but after they are just satisfied. • Title- “Two Black Cadillacs” not only represents the two women who get revenge, but also the gloomy and mysterious attitude of the song. When you think of a black Cadillac, you think of mysterious and prestigious. This song is the same way. • Theme- The theme of this song is you will always get what you deserve. The man thought that he was the one who had a secret to hide when in reality, the two women were the ones with the biggest secrets.
