Information • Look for • The male has a dark head and neck, and a white ring around the eye, Resembles female mallard , but more reddish brown , green and black speculum, female similar to male brown speculum, • Nesting area They lay they eggs at Laysan island. • Nest Site on the ground chenopodium or scacrola bushes • When they lay there eggs Early May • Clutch size 5 to 6 eggs

Information • The Laysan teal, the worlds most endanger duck species is thriving at midway atoll National Wildlife refuge three years after 42 of them were reintrod used to what was once part of their historic range. Trapped in the wild in 2004 and 2005 from their only remaining population on Laysan Island.

  4. More Imformation • The Rare ducks were carefully transported 750 miles by ship to re astablishs second poplulation. This year, there are about 200 ducks on Midway.

  5. About Laysan island • Laysan Island it got it’s name by the Laysan Teal duck.In the summer if you walk in the woods you can see almost 38 nests.

Interesting facts The ducks got indangered by hurricanes They can’t fly They removed the ducks from laysan island so they could increase The ducks used to live on Hawii There where apoxemently 576 ducks left on the earth The rabbits from the island were eradicated the and then the duck population increased.
