  13. Ghyll Scramble Natures own Wet and Wild !! Slide, leap and jump your way down a mountain stream under the watchful guidance of an Instructor.

  14. Newlands Challenge A round robin of low level challenges designed to get everyone talking, listening and working together. From diffusing a bomb to crossing swamps, rounding up sheep to walking on giant skis, it’s a fun way to start your visit.

  15. High Ropes Course and The Woods Swing and climb through the tree canopy testing your nerves and achieving heights you thought you would never reach.

  16. Canoeing A wonderful way to experience the beauty of the Lake District and you may even visit a deserted island or two !!

  17. Rock Climbing Whether on rock or on a wall, you will soon be topping out on your first climb, with an exciting abseil back down.

  18. Mountain Biking After a briefing and a quick skills test to show your Instructor you can manage your bike, you will soon be off exploring the local area on two wheels.

  19. Kayaking With your Instructor, explore the Lake and discover a new and exciting way of travelling. Basic paddle techniques and safety procedures are explained before getting into the water then after a practice session, head out on your journey of discovery.

  20. Mountain Walk With some of the Lake Districts most famous walks on our doorstep, it won’t be long until you too can appreciate the fantastic views and breathtaking scenery from the top of a local fell.

  21. Evening Activities Evening activities are based on site and not out on the fells or lake. We have a wide range of both indoor and outdoor activities to keep everyone busy from after dinner until 9pm.

  22. Archery Going for Gold !! Not as easy as it looks but this ancient sport is a popular choice at Newlands and competitions to burst a balloon are fiercely fought !!

  23. Orienteering After instruction on how to use a map and compass, you will soon be finding the hidden markers on the onsite courses. You may even progress to the offsite courses, using your skills to find points hidden around the valley and all under the watchful eye of an Instructor.

  24. Booking: • DEPOSITS: these need to be paid as soon as possible to the school so they can then secure their requested dates. • BALANCE: This is due to be received by Newlands 8 weeks before the start of the visit so please make sure your balance is paid in time to go through the school system and so reach Newlands in time. • DETAILS: We need dietary and medical details for each participant so please send them in as soon as the school request them. • CANCELLATIONS: We operate the following procedure for ANY cancellations, medical or otherwise: • Up to 8 weeks prior to start of the course: deposit only retained. • 5 to 8 weeks prior to the start of the course: 50% of the full amount retained. • 4 to 1 week prior to the start of the course: 75% of the full amount retained. • Less than 1 weeks notice given: NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN • Please contact the school if you wish to claim back the amount retained by Newlands as this will need to be done through the school’s travel insurance which is NOT included in the Newlands price.

  25. A few things to note… DRYING ROOM: We have a very efficient drying room for wet gear. If you have any wet clothing or trainers, the drying room is the place to put it ~ NOT your room !! THE GROUNDS: You are welcome to explore the grounds BUT YOU MUST NEVER go out without permission from a teacher OR go down to the river without an adult accompanying you. The Woods are out of bounds unless with an Instructor and please go onto the games field to play ball games and not on the back lawn. You should also never climb over a fence as the fence around the centre marks it’s boundary. SNACKS AND GAMES: There is a cold drinks, a canned drinks, and a chocolate machine in the centre for snacks. Also a baby football table and a pool table, both which take 50p coins. SOUVENIRS: Newlands hold a small stock of souvenirs with prices ranging from £2.00 to £8.00.
