  2. I Am One Of The Chosen • EKLEKTOS – chosen, selected, elected • 1 Peter 2:9 -- But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

  3. The Elect as Spoken By Jesus • Matthew 24:22 -- If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. • Vs. 24 -- For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. • Vs. 31 -- And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds

  4. God will grant justice to His elect • Luke 18:7 -- And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

  5. 1 Timothy 5:21-- I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.

  6. In What Way Are We Elected? • Matthew 22:1-14 • Parable of the King’s wedding banquet for his son • Servants go out to round up those invited, but they refuse to attend and eventually mistreat the King’s servants. • Finally they invite folks from the street corners. Banquet hall is filled. • One doesn’t come with wedding clothes. What happens to him? • Many called, few chosen.

  7. 1 Peter 1:2 --who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:

  8. 1 Peter 2:4 -- As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him—

  9. 2 Thes. 2:13-14 -- But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities as God’s Elect • Colossians 3:12-14 -- Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

  11. Revelation 17:14 -- They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."

  12. 2 Peter 1:5-11 • We must make our election sure: • By adding godly virtues: faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance and godliness, brotherly kindness and love. • By eagerness to make our calling and election sure. • …and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
