One-quarter of the children in Sub-Saharan Africa die before their 5th birthday. • Less than one-fifth of teens attend high school. • At least two-thirds of the people are infected with HIV/AIDS (Sub-Saharan) • HIV/AIDS has killed more than 3.1 million people in 2004 • 4.9 million have acquired the virus the same year. WHATS THE PROBLEM ?

  3. Total number of people infected with HIIV/AIDS is 39.4 million. • HIV/AIDs rate is above global average • Africa’s population is 5 million people and 20%of them are infected • 500,000 children are orphans TO BE CONTINUED…

  4. *It increases virtually triples the U.S commitment to international AIDS assistance. *Devoting money to health care programs that they would spend in other areas of the economy. SOFT POWER TOOLS

  5. *Facing problems, of decreased workers productivity and a shrinking labor force. HARD POWER TOOLS

  6. *Finding themselves devoting money to health care programs *Donating the drugs to developing countries; or sell them at a reduced price. *Concentrate on money and attention on preventing HIV/AIDS and other illnesses -tuberculosis -malaria -diarria *programs and clinics to educate people bout the effects and transmission of the disease. -promote condom use -discourage sharing -hypodermic needles HOW GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE INVOVLED IN THE SOLUTION

  7. *Disease is more likely to spread more rapidly in a developing country than in industrialized ones. *Conflicts force millions of people to leave their homes and become refugees. DEMONSTRATED AN UNDRSTYANDING OF ISSUES INVOVLED IN THE PROBLEM:
