DESIGN A CRANIUM One of the characteristics shared by all VERTEBRATES is a protective covering around their brain and nerve cord. Use the materials provided to design a covering that will protect your “brain” from injury when dropped. http://ww2.kqed.org/mindshift/wp-content/uploads/sites/23/2015/12/Teenage-brain-1920x1080.jpg http://cdn.instructables.com/FU3/5IJP/I83LFQU7/FU35IJPI83LFQU7.MEDIUM.jpg
SAMPLING You have 2 minutes to catch as many “flying organisms” as you can1st, 2nd, 3rd . . . will be awarded based on number of organisms caught http://www.bettycjung.net/GraphicsMarquee/Butterflycatcher.gif
ENERGY PYRAMID Each tribe member needs a cup and should stand on a designated spot. Each tribe will get 2 min to try and get as much water as possible in the final/empty bucket, by passing the water through the cup of each member of the tribe. Water can’t be passed to the next person until their cup is empty. Each person represents a trophic level and each cup has a hole in it to demonstrate the energy transfer efficiency. The tribe with the most water in their top trophic level (bucket at the end) wins! This activity modified from SURVIVOR by http://tropicalsavannathompson.yolasite.com/resources/energy%20pyramids.png

MATERIALS AND METHODS One component of a good lab report is a complete MATERIALS AND METHODS section that describes in detailthe steps necessary to repeat what was done. You have 20 minutes to WRITE a detailed description of what you see so that your team mates reading yourdescription will be able to build it. Completed object will be awardedpoint for the most pieces in the correct position http://www.k12stemplans.com/my-blog/re-thinking-science-fair-part-2
ESCAPE FROM ISLAND Your team has been shipwrecked on a desert island. Your task is to design a “boat” using the materials provided that will allow the most “people” to escape. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51rRH0hdDZL._SX940_.jpgttp://www.wisebread.com/files/fruganomics/blog-images/pennies_0.jpg
