  2. Neutrinos • BNL committed to “the physics” no matter where the source is • “the physics” is a wide band beam  1MW to a large (>>100kTon) detector in DUSEL • The Labs need to have a plan for a beam to DUSEL • near-term n plans = MINOS, mid-term = reactor  • Want to study (in addition to generic R&D): • Physics reach of a MI WBB to DUSEL • Optimization of beam energy vs. beam power vs. angle • Compared to PD WBB to DUSEL • BNL WBB to DUSEL as a reference

  3. Neutrino R&D • Accelerator-related • Detector-related

  4. ILC • Accelerator-related • A key issue is the Superconducting Magnet Div. • Beam delivery system & direct-wind technology • Areas of possible collaboration • Detector-related

  5. Wrap-up • Neutrino study – we want to do this • Off-line discussion  scope and charge to a joint (BNL-FNAL) study of very long baseline oscillation experiment from FNAL  DUSEL • BNL plans to submit its R&D proposals to DOE, rsn • Proton Driver collaboration • Needs local discussion then, if positive, a dedicated meeting (@FNAL?) • Targetry – what should be added to present collaboration? • Hg target for low-energy beam? • C-C, Ni-Al high dose targetry • ILC accelerator R&D • some in progress (in SMD); currently underfunded by ILC R&D • SRF gun – in progress? • ILC detector R&D
