  2. The Kidlink Day • Goals • 1. Use of ICT- and media based tools in methods of work, where the process is a guideline • 2. Use of ICT- to publish digital products • 3. Use of electronic platforms on the internet • 4. Use acceptable language when online on the internet • 5. Strengthen the pupils’ motivation to learn about cultures different from their own as to school, family and other aspects of culture familiar to the age group. • The man principle for projects like these is that children should be forced to include and react to other children's’ input. This in mind various projects can be constructed. • Danish Junior-pc-driver-license: • Learning processes • Gathering information • Production and analysis • Communication • Computers and networks

  3. The Kidlink Day • Children from around the world write a journal, by the hour, of their activities on a specific day. These journals are published in the organizations area called: Kidspace (kidproj-multi area) • The journals can have an illustration attached. • For children to use this facility a registration is needed. See www.kidlink.org • Be sure to include time for that. It requires the answers of 4 questions, a project in itself. Name and contact information Bent Karkov, Bent.karkov@skolekom.dk

The Kidlink day • When writing children will enhance their abilities to: • 1. write for a specific purpose - to inform • 2. use appropriate style and conventions • 3. develope as writers using the writing process having occasions to prewrite, draft, revise and proofread their journal writings. • 4. write effectively by considering correctness, completeness, and appropriateness of their text. • After writing the journals the children read other children’s descriptions, and use them as material for comparative work and • discussions. Examples: • 1. locating journal writers on the map, latitude/longitude, hemisphere • 2. identifying customs and festivals noted in the journals • 3. identifying local foods • 4. identifying study habits and values • 5. comparing the length of school day in various countries • 6. identify subject areas that are favorites and those that are unique to the area. • 7. recording, analyzing and comparing weather data and patterns • 8. becoming aware that land features help influence recreational activities of students in various parts of the world • 9. comparing the kinds of food kids like to eat for meals. • 10. observing good health habits mentioned in journals such as dental hygiene recording, organizing and interpreting data • 11. comparing standard and metric measurement - daily temperature • 12. using percents and fractions to describe daily activity - students spend 10% of their day watching tv and ¼ of the day in school. • 13. totalling and averaging the hours of homework classmates are doing on a typical day • Children read and comment on other children’s contributions

Example • 7:00 I get up and watch television and eat breakfast • 8:00 I go to school • 8:20 begins the school day, the school headmaster come and tells about optional subjects • 9:00 working on computer. I am making a power point presentation about my project. • 10:00 Working at computer and reading some texts • 11:00 making a power point presentation • 12:00 working on computer my project is about cars • 13:05 School is over and I go home • 14:00 Reading in a book about Beckham • 15:00 playing football in the garden • 16:00 playing football and buying food whit my mother • 17:00 watch television and play on my computer • 18:00 Eat dinner • 19:00 Play game Boy and watch television • 20:00 I watch ?Denmark’s worst car driver? • 21:00 I watch television. I see champions league Manchester united vs. FC Porto • 22:00 second half starts • 22.30 football stops and I go to bed
