  4. JPEG 2000 • JPEG2000的壓縮比更高，而且不會產生原先的基於離散餘弦變換的JPEG標準產生的塊狀模糊瑕疵。 • 離散小波

  5. lossless JPEG • Lossless JPEG is actually a mode of operation of JPEG. This mode exists due to the fact that the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) based form cannot guarantee that encoder input would exactly match decoder output since the Inverse DCT is not rigorously defined • Lossless Mode of Operation

  7. ICER • A wavelet-based image compression file format used by the NASA Mars Rovers • ICER was created for low end 32 bit CPUs (essentially embedded computers) • Compare with JPEG2000

PCX • The PCX is a device-independent raster image format; the file header stores information about the display hardware (screen resolution, color depth and palette information, bit planes and so on) separately from the actual image information, allowing the image to be properly transferred and displayed on computer systems with different hardware

  9. PGF • PGF was created to improve upon and replace the JPEG format. It was developed at the same time as JPEG 2000 but with a different focus
