  2. BACKGROUND Sachse, Texas Attended Garland Senior High School Class of 2009 Population ~ 20,000 people Attending Sam Houston State University Major: Interdisciplinary Agriculture Minor: Secondary Education Graduating December 2013 Two hours South East of Nocona

THE CITY • What you may NOT know • The population has declined since the 2000 census • The ball glove factory is currently in the original Nocona boot factory • Lake Nocona is only 49% full • The dairy Queen has unlimited coffee for $0.50 • The Mayor’s BBQ restaurant's most famous dish is the Bowl of Crap. • Time’s forgotten steak house has been featured on the travel channel • What you may know • Population of 3,003 • Several leather good manufacturers • Main street revitalization • Lake Nocona • Nocona Dairy Queen • Mayor’s BBQ • Horton’s classic car museum • Tails and Trails museum

  4. Project • Nocona children are stuck in a summer time rut SO • How can we improve what we have OR • What can we build for future generations

  5. PROJECT FOCUS • Gather a team of un-like-minded Nocona residents • Gather information on current situation • Compare and Contrast surrounding attractions • Research payment options • Create a survey to gather opinions • Compile opinions

  10. LESSONS LEARNED • There IS something to do! • Events are happening CONSTANTLY • An FFA Chapter here could have their hand in every jar • People will know you • You won’t know all of them • You will miss everyone • And you can always come back. It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See You Later
