The Hall was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1999.
The hall was designed by architects, McKim, Mead, and White, a wee-known architectural firm. They are known for their architecture throughout the United States including the National Museum of American History and the Manhattan Municipal Building. Manhattan Municipal Building

Sixteen replicas of Greek and Roman statues line the upper level of the hall's walls. Ten are of mythical subjects, and six of historical figures.
The Symphony Hall organ, a 4,800-pipe was design and built in 1949. It is considered to be one of the finest concert hall organs in the world.
