Testament(Working Title) Self Initiated Project Proposal
Synopsis Testament is a first person adventure game, created for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, for a mature audience (PEGI 18+). The game follows an initially unnamed protagonist who awakens, with no memory, trapped in an industrial complex. The only contact he has is an unseen overseer, who he communicates with via a headset. Now named only as ‘Able’, the protagonist must traverse the facility, which is filled with deadly puzzles and traps to test his wits, watched constantly through the complex’s surveillance system.
Synopsis (cont.) As Able pushes deeper into the complex, he learns that he is not alone, and that each of the captives is being tested in a similar fashion, with the promise of freedom to the last man standing. Forced to compete between each other, their numbers begin to dwindle, and the protagonist is forced through harder trials and to commit more reprehensible acts to survive, as he attempts to stop the testing, and discover their purpose.
Gameplay - Puzzles Testament is based heavily around exploration and environmental based puzzles, which are laid out to test the game’s protagonist by unseen forces. Penumbra: Black Plague – Frictional Games Penumbra: Overture – Frictional Games
Gameplay - Combat The game also features melee-centric combat, as Able is forced into confrontations with denizens of the facility. This is based heavily on the use of improvised weaponry and the environment to cause damage. Condemned 2: Bloodshot - Monolith Productions
Visual Style Testament is set in a dilapidated engineering facility, and as such its visuals are very industrial, with a decayed and rusted look. Shots from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl – GSC Game World
The Project For this project, I am going to design and create a scripted sequence of example environments utilising the Unreal Engine 2, to showcase how the game will look and play, and to present some previews of the type of environmental puzzles the game will feature
