  1. Drawings supplied by firms ( As-built drawings ) LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M. Mottier September 2000

  2. Contents • Registration and archiving • Verification and approval • Confidentiality • Folder for As-Built drawings • Process step by step LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M. Mottier - September 2000 Page 2

  3. Registration and archiving (1) Two possible ways: • It is done by the firm, using the Web interface of CDD • It is done at CERN. The firms supplies the drawing files on a CD ---------- The Web is suitable if: • The firm has a fast Web connection • Strict confidentiality is not required It needs registration of the firm as a CDD user and training of one operator LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M. Mottier - September 2000 Page 3

  4. Registration and archiving (2) The CD is suitable in all cases where the Web is not practical • The firm copies the drawings on a CD • The CD is sent to CERN • Drawings are copied from the CD to CDD at CERN It needs a central service at CERN to do the registration and copying of the files LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M. Mottier - September 2000 Page 4

  5. Verification and approval Once in CDD, as-built drawings should be checked and approved like tender drawings: • A technical verification by a designer • An approval by the Project Engineer LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M. Mottier - September 2000 Page 5

  6. Confidentiality Confidentiality of the drawings supplied by a firm may be required, for example when the execution of a contract for prototypes is going on at the same time as a call for tender for a series production. • By default, firm drawings should be considered confidential, accessible only to authorized persons • The needs for confidentiality should be discussed when placing the contract LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M. Mottier - September 2000 Page 6

  7. Folder for As-Built drawings As built drawings should be placed in a drawing folder attached to the baseline and the technical specification The folder containing tender drawings should be named “TENDER DRAWINGS” The folder containing the production drawings should be named “AS-BUILT DRAWINGS” See the example on the next slide LHC Quality Assurance Working Group - M.
