Dry eyes are now Curable

1. The Eye Clinic Dry eyes are now Curable! For a long while and even now, little attention is paid to dry eyes because it not regarded as a blinding condition. But I take dry eyes seriously as the negative impact is far reaching. I have patients who can work on a computer only for a few minutes before they stop as the light is bright and their eyes feel tired. This has impact on work productivity. I have patients who no longer can wear contact lenses for long periods of time before they eyes are red or painful. For patients planning on eye surgery, dry eyes makes the assessment of prescription and astigmatism inaccurate. So if the dry eyes is not properly treated the surgical outcome would not be good. Also the patient would complain of glare and haloes. Interestingly there are patients who have dry eyes but don't feel it. They may have red eyes but still feel comfortable. This is seen especially in LASIK patients or those who wear contact lenses. The reason is the nerves that feel pain do not function anymore or have been cut As in those who have had lasik. This dry eye centre was started as the understanding of dry eyes progresses so quickly that we need a dedicated team to bring you the most up to date diagnostic and treatment options. Like treatment for the skin, there is not laser and IPL which works so much better than just face creams. Dry eyes too is now treated with IPL and LED which treat the root of the problem which is meibomitis and blepharitis which eye drops cannot. That’s why there is renewed hope for patients with dry eyes who are fed up as eye drops have not been making a significant difference.
