Ultrasound is the first choice of investigation for a range of superficial lumps and bumps ,musculoskeletal (MSK) complaints and for investigating hernias in the femoral or inguinal canal or abdominal wall. • USG is a cost-effective and dynamic way to interrogate superficial lumps and bumps.
COMMON PATHOLOGIES • Lipoma • Sebaceous Cyst • Haematoma • Granuloma • Neuroma • Lymph Node
NOT SO COMMON CAUSES Muscle Herniation Abdominal Wall Fibromatosis Cyst Cellulitis Foreign Body Fat Necrosis Sarcoma Hernia Superficial Thrombophlebitis
ROLEOF ULTRASOUND 1. Is there a mass or not? 2. Is it cystic or solid? 3. What is the mass? 4. Can we biopsy the mass?
EXTENDED FIELD OF VIEW LIPOMA ECHOGENIC MASS WITH RETICULAR PATTERN AND CAPSULE
fnacis indicated With irregularly-shaped or large lipomas (greater than 5 cm in diameter).
H/o blunt injury causing hard lump at site of injury .usg to rule out muscle injury.
.in this case changes confined to fat layer.usg helps to rule out muscle hematoma or abscess which will change the mngmnt
ON USG A COLLECTION/ABCESS WAS SEEN CONFINED TO SUBCUTANEOUS SPACE AND NO TRACKING
palpable Lump in rt axilla on usg appeared suspicious for malignancy
Patient presented with swelling and pain over submandibular region
Superficial thrombophlebitis is inflammation of a vein just under the skin, usually in the leg. condition usually settles and goes within 2-6 weeks. However, in a small number of cases, complications can occur with superficial thrombophlebitis including extension of the blood clot further up the vein.
