Haiku • 3 lined poem of 17 syllables, usually about nature • Lines are in a 5 syllable- 7 syllable- 5 syllable pattern Wind blowing fiercely! Everything whirls in its path. My kite dips and soars. All leaves have fallen. The tall old oak stands bravely. Steeled to winter’s cold.
Cinquain • A five-lined poem with only 11 words • Line 1-title (1 word) • Line 2- words describing the title (2 words) • Line 3- words describing action (3 words) • Line 4- words describing a feeling (4 words) • Line 5- synonym for the title (1 word)

Poetry Project • You will create a poetry book of poems you have written. • You need a minimum of 5 types of poetry in your book. • Your need a minimum of at least 12 poems. • Your poems should be illustrated. • They need to be identified as to what type of poem you are classifying it as. • This will be a test grade. • You will have occasional class time to work on this.
