Local Adjustment Tool Digikam Sayantan Datta
Local Adjustments? • Currently, image adjustment in digikam is only based on the whole image, and not a region or a part of the image. • Making a new selection in gimp and editing them takes a long time, and patience, so a solution to that is using a simple circular selection. The center of the circle determines the color to be chosen in the circle, and that is what this tool does. • This feature exists in a Nikon™ Software, Capture NX2™, as the name “U point”. Local Selections and Manipulations • To create natural looking selections, we take a circular selection, with a feathered border (well the gradient is made, using alpha channel). • Next part is selecting the color, based on the point which we tool into consideration, we take the color of the center of the circle, and selecting similar color from it. • Now after editing the 3rd image on the right, we apply it back on the original image, to create the transformation. Mockup UI The circles denote the region of interest, determined by the menu, Local Area selection 1 and 2. Sayantan Datta
UI to select the local regions (local area selection points) • The user controls on the image are simple: • Point • Circle • The user clicks a point on the image, and drags a circle from it (point being the center of the circle). • The circle determines the region of interest and the point determines the color to be considered in the region of interest. • There can be multiple local area selection points, of which each individual opacity can be controlled. • Local Area Points can be modified, deleted and added at any point when the tool is opened. • After selecting the color and the region, the changes in the region can be made, changes like: Hue, Saturation, Blue, Green, Red, Brightness, White Balance and Opacity. Current Status • Currently making a Qt Project, part where I have to blend in the selections of the image, back to the main image. Sayantan Datta
