  2. What is an RCD Testing? How does it work? • What is a RCD? A residual current device (RCD) is a safety device designed to immediately turn off all power to the circuit it is attached to prevent the risk of an electrical incident. RCDs work by monitoring the flow of electricity that is running through the circuit it is attached to. An RCD will ‘trip’ (turn off the power) if it detects electricity is leaking to the earth at potentially dangerous levels. • RCDs (commonly known as safety switches) can be portable (at a switchboard or a fixed socket outlet) or attached to a distribution board that is located at the main switchboard. • RCD Testing is an important prevention tool to ensure that your business remains a safe workplace and prevents the risk of electrical shocks, injuries, and even death.
