Generally speaking, being let go from a place of employment happens to be a fact of life. We get a job, we lose a job, we move on. But in some instances, the reason for a layoff is unacceptable. There are several reasons that someone might require the help of an Employment Attorney.
Age Discrimination There are laws put clearly in place that prevents an employer from firing or not hiring you just strictly based on age.
Gender Discrimination This is something that is heard about and unfortunately does happen more often than we like to think. This would also include being discriminated against or fired for a pregnancy. It is unlawful to let someone go based on their gender status and the fact that they might be or might become pregnant.
Race discrimination Claims for such an act can range from not being hired because of race to racial harassment. We have come so far in the racial divide, but unfortunately in the workplace, this still happens.
Disability Discrimination It is also a reason one might need an employment attorney. If you are not hired or let go because of a disability or a perceived disability, under the Americans with Disabilities Act you have the right to recourse.
