Gas interruptions - schedule New gas monitoring New gas monitoring 3 10 Functional tests Stop flammable gases: 10 Dec PM ALICE planning meeting
Cooling interruptions Production network: • Once a year we must clean the cooling towers – this is imposed by the law and will imply to stop the P2 primary (both chilled and mixed) cooling water for some days • In addition, several maintenance and consolidation interventions (pumps, chillers, flowmeters) are scheduled, which will cause additional interruptions of primary cooling water • These interventions are scheduled from 12/1 (PM) to 21/1 – during this time there will be no primary water (chilled, mixed) • CR1-2-3, the Wiener PS and detector cooling plants affected (plants can RUN, but no cooling power) • Investigating possibility to keep running DCS (tap water) Cooling plants: • Yearly maintenance on each cooling station (typically one day) • Replacement of pneumatic actuators for TOF/TRD/TPC plants + TOF/PHOS flowmeter • CP will be stopped during maintenance ALICE planning meeting
Cooling interruptions - schedule TOF/PHOS EMC Maintenance and consolidation TPC 10 17 12 TRD TPC Cooling towers SSD/SDD HMPID 21 SPD Maintenance on production network. No primary water from 12/1 (PM) to 21/1 Maintenance on cooling plants. CP will be stopped during maintenance ALICE planning meeting
Services interruptions – impact on ALICE • Of course we would like to skip these interventions – this is not an option • Other interventions in the shadow of the cooling stop: • AUG Test (20/1) (Arrêt Urgence General – General Emergency Stop) - Major electrical perturbation. Also ACR affected • DSS modification (13/1): will stop the full DSS, trigger all interlocks, including stopping power to all racks • All perturbations happening before 21-January. Then 4 stable weeks to startup systems before LHC operation • SSD-SDD: circulation of water must be present at all times. Corrosion of 40 um cooling tubes should be avoided at all times and stagnant water may become agressive in a short time • The plant will be stopped only for one day, during the maintenance • Calibration of SSD safety valves postponed to 2012 • PHOS: fear presence of ice inside cold part - could melt when warming-up crystals • Working at solution to keep freon circulation at all times ALICE planning meeting
