  1. Yoga – A Therapeutic Outlet It’s not every day that we wake up in the best of spirits and take on the challenge to conquer the world. There are days when we feel low, lethargic and unwell or just want to take the day off from doing anything. Feeling your best on the days when you feel good is easy. The challenging days are the ones when you don’t. It’s the days when you walk around with a heavy head and heavier heart, when you’re going through a very demanding emotional time that you need to pick yourself back up, dust yourself off and take that step forward that’s going to eventually help you feel better. As a matter of fact, it has been scientifically proven that working out or even going for a walk when you’re feeling low can boost your “feel good” hormones and you will slowly begin to see a shift in your mood. Owing to the widespread pandemic we’re going through, it is understandable if you’re not able to go out on walks or get back to the gym but you can do the bare minimum. Sometimes the bare minimum is surprisingly all you need to give your body its pill of happiness. You can start out by following along with simple yoga classes for beginners. Yoga has been shown to activate parts of the brain – specifically the pituitary gland – that stimulate the happy hormones in the body, specifically in the brain and in the gut. This part of the brain is also responsible for what we know as the gut feeling. Therefore making sure you feel right and avoiding that end-of-the-world feeling that stirs in the gut can be avoided or at least minimised by following a healthy yoga routine. However, if the feeling persists and if you feel the need to consult with a professional you shouldn’t wait until later. Mental health is just as important as physical health, if not more and we must all educate one another to take it more seriously.
