220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com The meeting is but a memory, however, the lessons learned will pay dividends for years to come. Duraclean Annual Meetings always have three main objectives; Socialization, Education, and Recognition.
220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com The Socialization started with an extremely well put together scavenger hunt, produced by Cindy Gillespie and Danielle Canup. The hunt was for historical places and objects throughout the historical district. Once the place or object was found the team would snap a picture of it and upload it to a specified website. The competition was fierce yet Team Slinky which consisted of Tammy Jankowski (Plover, WI), Dave Flores (Gilroy, CA), Mike Higgins and Brandi Marienau (Corporate) proved to be the Best of the Best. The “War Stories” of the day continued to be told as everyone met at the Field House Sports Bar for adult beverages.

220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com This year, the two day education agenda was heavy with sales and marketing ideas. We opened up on Thursday at 8 am with a marketing roundtable of successful franchises. Leading off was Carla Yoder (Akron, OH) as she talked about cold call and network selling. Next up was Jim Schlupp (East Greenville, PA) who gave us some great hints for route selling to insurance agents. Jason Sauers (Montoursville, PA) talked about specific tasks and outdoor media marketing and was followed by Dennis Sherwood (Medford, NJ) who gave some great pointers on marketing for restoration. Todd Wearsch (Avon, OH) anchored the presentation with great ideas on residential marketing. A question and answer period followed.

This would be our first referral water mitigation claim from an agent. Because we would not tear out the carpet the insured was angry, they wanted new carpet so they really trashed us to the adjustor. Since the adjustor had never heard of us she believed the owner and wanted nothing to do with us. About 2 weeks later we received another claim from the agent with the same adjustor. This time I went out myself and met the adjustor at the loss. I was able to win her over and that was the beginning of us becoming the largest water mitigation company in the area for Nationwide. This adjustor trained all new adjustors in the region and she would make sure that we would meet them and she let them know that we are the company they should use. At that time Nationwide was changing and hiring a lot of new adjustors so we quickly made a name for ourselves with Nationwide. This same adjustor also got us on with Contractor Connection which then led to doing work for USAA. So by having a bad experience then turning it into a positive we were able to establish our company in the water mitigation business. I could never thank that adjustor enough for what she did for us, and even though she has since retired I still call her and take her to lunch. -Rick Criss 220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com

Favorite or Most Memorable Duraclean Annual Meeting This is an impossible question for me to answer. There are so many memories from every trip. From Hawaii to Ireland, Italy, Walt Disney World, San Francisco, Niagara Falls just to start. In Hawaii the convention was great but the extra activities were awesome. You just can’t recreate adventure like that. In Ireland visiting the Bad Ass Café was something I’ll never experience again. In Italy – well you just don’t encounter anything like that in the U.S. San Francisco – that’s the closest I ever want to be to a prison. I’ll not forget the ride to the top of the Arch in St. Louis. Getting the Shining Star Award in Chicago was an unexpected honor. I have talked about the “extras” but the conventions have been great. Great speakers, round tables, networking have been exceptional. All I can add is Thank You. -Candy Hanna 220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com
Favorite or Most Memorable Duraclean Annual Meeting The most memorable Duraclean Annual Meeting was on the occasion of Duraclean’s 85th Anniversary Celebration. Words can little express how thankful we are to have received the Duraclean International Presidential Award in June 2015. We were so honored, as was evident by our immense surprise. Hard work, perseverance and dedication to our franchise has kept us striving to be the best at our craft. This success also attests to Duraclean Internationals far sightedness in making Duraclean and its franchises great. Please accept our gratitude for all that you do to help make Duraclean the Best! -Dave & Paul Flores 220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com
Favorite or Most Memorable Duraclean Annual Meeting It would be hard to choose between Hawaii, Ireland and Italy but the one that stands out would be Ireland. From our first full night partying with a Rugby team in a 200 plus year old pub, to seeing all the sights while busing across the country was an experience I will never forget. The castles, towns, people and the history of Ireland made the trip truly worthwhile. And for me personally taking this trip with Pete and Barb is a memory that I will always cherish. Barb talked about this trip until she passed and the story always started with our night in the pub. And for those of us from Duraclean who were on the trip and we started reminiscing, the Ireland trip is always part of the conversation. -Rick Criss 220 Campus Drive Arlington Heights, Illinois www.duraclean.com
