  5. 2002-2003: “Firefly” • The Fox network commissions and shows a television series called “Firefly”. • They never air the first episode. Ever. • Some of the others are aired out of order. • There is very little advertising. • Predictably…it’s canceled after 14 episodes.

  6. DVDs • When the series was released on DVD, the fans started rolling in. • They LOVED it! • But it was over. • So…they started signing petitions and advertising and getting sponsors.

The Movie: Serenity • Finally, everything came into alignment. • In 2005, Universal released “Serenity”, a movie based on the show. • The fans were happy, and, given the content, horrorstruck. • They continue to want to restart the series. • The best we’ve gotten so far is comic books. • Sigh.
