Activity #1 • Brainstorm as many common dualities as you can think of (ex. Black/white, big/small, etc.). • Remember: dualities are exact or near exact opposites • Black (all colors) is the opposite of white (absence of color) • Cat is NOT the opposite of dog even though people tend to be either “cat-people” or “dog-people”
Activity #2 • Recalling Literature: Now brainstorm a list of 7 dualities found in eitherBig Fish or Romeo and Juliet. (They can come from your previous list if necessary).
Activity #3, Analyzing a Visual: List the binaries that you see in the following picture
Activity #4 • Applying Analysis: What inferences (conclusions) can you make about the photograph from the dualities you listed?
Activity #5 • Self Reflection: Take a few minutes to think about yourself. Contemplate your hopes and desires, your likes and dislikes, your personality traits both good and not-so-good (your virtues and vices). Now, list at least 10, preferably more, dualities that you embody.
