The Mission of Centennial Place Academy is to help students in this K – 8 educational community become competitive, creative and critical thinkers and problem solvers. The Vision for Centennial Place Academy is: • To become a replicable model for STEAM education, using blended and project-based learning as core strategies. • To help students achieve the benchmarks of each educational bundle (Crib-K, K-2, 3-5 and 6-8) to excel in any high school, college and technical arrangements. • To utilize an effective “learning to read” approach in the Crib – K and K – 2 years to set the stage for students for the rest of life’s journey, where “reading to learn” is essential. • To optimize on the use of strategic community partnerships to support its academic priorities. Four homeroom classes • Approximately 20-25 students/class • Differentiated – Math, Science, Reading/ELA, Social Studies • All Teachers gifted and subject certified • All students to have access to high quality teachers • Gifted identified students are able to take all gifted level classes • Accelerated and Honors Math program that follows APS program to ensure students entering Grady HS are on a similar track • Investigating an Accelerated Science program to allow students to enter high school in 10th grade science What to expect?
Continuation of Spanish instruction • Electives including arts programming • Blended learning that will allow students to take other languages or electives • Advisory period (typically once a week) • Project-based learning and enhanced lab instruction • Enhanced afterschool activities, clubs, and sports not offered at the elementary level • Year long internships in 8th grade • Current rising 6th graders will be in the permanent facility for 8th grade What to expect?
Applying academic content knowledge to solve real world problems • Interdisciplinary projects tie academics together • Hands on experience engages the students • Working towards year-long internships in 8th grade Project Based Learning
