Story of Creation/End of World • Once humans populated the earth and pollution became a big part of it, this is where our religion came into place and the reason for why we are on this earth • Keep mother Earth clean and use the 3 “R’s” • Recycle, Reduce, Reuse.
Moral Teachings, Political Ethic, & Sexual Ethic: • We believe in pro-life and the circle of life, for every death there is new life, the secular world will deal with murders and stealing. Sex is a natural part of life. We are all about natural.
Captain Planet is the embodiment of the powers of nature infused with the caring of humankind. He resides within the earth, waiting to aid the Planeteers of the world in their quest to rid the planet of the evils of pollution.
Symbolism • The Planeteer Ring is equivalent to the cross in Christianity
Symbolism • Captain Planet was formed by combining the powers of the rings of the five Planeteers, which represented the four Classical Elements: Earth (wielded by Kwame), Fire (Wheeler), Wind (Linka), Water (Gi) - and the additional power of Heart (Ma-Ti). All of these people represented a major ethnicity and each one of them came from a different continent.
Symbolism • Captain Planet is the combined and magnified powers of all five of the Planeteers' rings, and stands for all that is good and environmentally friendly
Rituals • Each season as individuals you take your journey back to your place of nature, usually going to high places such as mountains, trails, forests. There, you live off the land and nature by not killing animals, but eating plants, berries, and other things growing on trees. • Daily devotions are very important, this means spending time with nature and meditating (beaches, parks, lakes, mnts.) anywhere outdoors that makes you appreciate life! • Also, as believers we do not wear anything synthetic, but it is more our custom to wear things made from nature such as cotton, silk, and wool (by sheering the sheep, not killing!).
Holidays • Earth Day (April 22)- get out and enjoy nature by doing any outdoor activities, sports, things out on the beach or in the lake- just enjoying our planet. • Captain Planet Day (July 10)- giving back to the earth, cleaning up, planting new things, picking up plastic bags, bottle caps, and other debris.
Birth/Death • When a new child is born we plant a tree and one they die we spread their ashes around their specific tree. We believe that since we are made from the ground we will, at the end of our lives return back to the soil- it’s the full circle of life. Our destiny is to be productive with the land and cultivate it so that once we die and go back to the dirt this will be seen as an honor. Our ultimate sacrifice is to give ourselves back to the earth and return to the soil.
