You might be pregnant and no matter who the daddy is, the situation isn’t good.(31)” Jay’d find out that her friend Mickey is might be pregnant and her friend doesn’t know who the baby daddy is. Mickey tells Jay’d and her friend Nellie that it will be okay and that they don’t have nothing to worry about but they can’t tell no one. Now Jay’d doesn't know what to do because she thinks that she should warn Nellie man and Nigel Mickey’s boyfriend.

3. “Well, Mickey’s pregnant,” I say, only slightly shocking Mama. She knows Mickey and Nigel have been seeing each other for a while and that Mickey has a boyfriend. “ To top it off, she doesn’t know who the daddy is and has decided by default that it will be Nigel.(67)” Jay’d goes to her grandmother to get some advice. But her grandmother is slightly shocked because she knows how Jay’d friends are. Jay’d promised not to tell no one but she has to get it off her mind. She’s starting to stress over the whole pregnancy thing.

4. “Jeremy, you and I to be friends and that’s what we’re doing. So, no more close embraces or questions about my other friends. And for your information, I’m doing fine. I just have a lot on my mind,” I say, leaving him posted up on the back wall while I tiptoe backstage to wait for my cue.(72)” Jay’d is tired of Jeremy and Rah her two ex’s to be fighting over her. She decided to come out and tell Jeremy how she feels. She tells Jeremy that there wouldn’t “be no more close embraces ,or questions about my other friends.” She really referring to her other ex Rah.

5. “Hey Nellie, Chance, Jay’d,” Rah says, looking at my intently as Jeremy walks up behind him, making this scene even more awkward. “You ready to roll?” Before I can answer Chance greets his boy, causing Rah to look over his shoulder at my ex.(75)” Rah Jay’d boyfriend goes to pick up her up and makes an awkward moment for her. Her ex Jeremy get kind of jealous because of Rah’s appearance. Jay’d’s ex’s are making it hard for her. But it’s like they don’t care because they are both trying to get back with her.

6. “Jay’d, wait up,” Nellie says, joining me as I head toward the gymnasium. While I have dance class, she, Mickey, and the rest of the South Central kids have P.E, during sixth period.(5)” L. Divine starts the story out by Jay’d walking to Gym at the South Central High.
