CODA 2.6 • CODA 2.6(2.5) is set up under a configuration of Linux host computer and MVME6100 as ROC. In the process, many helps were received from David Abbott in JLAB. • Detailed information for installation is wikied at http://www-hep.phys.sinica.edu.tw/E906by Bo-Ru Lin.
CODA 2.5 Compiled by David Abbott
Conceptual design of DAQ based on CODA MWPC, HODO, Muon Coincidence Register System, VME CAMAC TDC for DC Interface to VME Accelerator scalers, VME? ROC3 ROC2 ROC1 L2 Trigger Electronics House Ethernet Hub Unix host running CODA Counting House Data Decoder Software Data Storage Online monitoring
Hardware Configuration rcServer: LINUX Trigger supervisor: SIS 3600 ROC:MVME6100
Installation of CODA 2.6 • Before Start • Edit CODA Database • Set up MVME6100 • Run CODA 2.6 with ROC on MVME6100
Before Start • Prepare a DAQ host (Scientific Linux in our case) • Download CODA 2.6 package • Set up environment • Compile the readout list
Setup of Single Board Computer MVME6100 • Under “MVME6100>” prompt, use tftp to download VxWorks boot file “boot6100_v122.bin” from tftp host. • Flash the program into the on-board flash memory. • Set the dip switch to change from FLASH Bank. • Power cycle the board. • Set the boot parameters under “[VxWorks Boot]: “ prompt. • Reboot and the VxWorks kernel, libraries and ROC programs are downloaded.
The boot parameters [VxWorks Boot]: c boot device : geisc unit number : 0 processor number : 0 host name : daq file name : /tftpboot/vx6100_v4.1 inet on ethernet (e) : 192.168.98.189:fffff800 inet on backplane (b): 0 host inet (h) : 192.168.99.184 gateway inet (g) : 192.168.103.253 user (u) : sp8daq flags (f) : 0x20 target name (tn) : roc1 startup script (s) : /tftpboot/roc1.boot
Proceed to the REAL START • Start the msqld • Start the platform • Use “cedit” and “ebedit” to compile a object in msql database. • Start Event Transport system (ET) • Start RUN CONTROL PROCESS (ROC) • Start Event Builder (EB) • Start Run Control GUI
Start data taking in rcgui • Run: • Translate DB to COOLTranslate the object into one in COOL database (something new in CODA 2.6) • Configure • Download • Prestart • Enable trigger • End • Abort • Reset • Disconnect • Exit
