  2. Mrs. H presents with diarrhoea and lethargy • What else do you want to know? • How long has she had it? • Any abdominal pain? SQUITAS • Describe the diarrhea- blood, mucus? • Any other symptoms e.g. anaemia • Red flags • ICE • Family history • What do you suspect? • Ulcerative colitis

  3. What investigations do you want to do? • Routine bloods • Sigmoidoscopy • Abdominal XR • Ultrasound • How could you treat it? • IV hydrocortisone • IV fluids • Oral Aminosalicylates • Immunosuppressants • Methotrexate • Monoclonal antibodies • Surgical resection

  4. Miss. Fox has been suffering with ulcers in her mouth and complains of a ‘funny tummy’. • What else do you want to know? • How long has she had it? • Any abdominal pain? SQUITAS • Describe the diarrhea- blood, mucus? • Any other symptoms e.g. anaemia • Red flags • ICE • Family history • What do you suspect? • Crohn’s disease

  5. What investigations do you want to do? • Routine bloods • Colonoscopy/endoscopy • CT/MRI • How would you treat? • Smoking cessation • Glucocorticoids • Oral Aminosalicylates • Immunosuppressants • Methotrexate • Monoclonal antibodies • Surgical resection, removal of fistula

  6. Physical Examination • Any extra intestinal signs you would look for?
