  1. Welcome!Sit anywhere! 2014-2015 School Year Fallon Middle School G-4 Ms. Breana Bush 6th grade Common Core Math *

  2. About Me • High School Valedictorian • Bachelors: UC Berkeley in Math • Teaching Credentials: San Jose State • Teaching Experience: 6th grade math, High School Geometry, 7th grade math

  3. Website and Contact information • To access: • Fallon School • Teacher Sites • Breana Bush • Check homework assignments, long term assignments, upcoming quiz and test dates… • GREAT tool when absent! • bushbreana@dublinusd.net (best way to contact) • (925)875-9376 ext. 6470.

  4. Materials Used Daily (Also on Syllabus) • Textbook- Students will write in their book and need to carry it between home and school. • Notebook for notes that will NOT be used to tear out pages. Composition book recommended. • Writing utensils (No. 2 Pencils and a red pen). No homework may be submitted in pen. • A folder or small section in a binder for corrected math homework and classwork that can be kept . Corrected work should be kept at home. (Keep work until end of quarter)

  5. HOMEWORK POLICIES • Homework Every day (written in minder binder, also found on my website, YES even on weekends!) • Late work for reduced points • On a separate piece of paper, all work shown properly. There may be writing involved and full sentences are required. • HW that earns partial credit for being incomplete or not enough work can be fixed and resubmitted • In pencil

  6. **Absences** • #1 Reason for missing assignments • Students responsible for getting homework from when absent and turning it in after the same number of days. • Students should copy friend’s class notes from absence or get them on my website. • Must make up tests during AP or after school within a few days.

  7. Grading (Also on Syllabus) Our Fallon Math department has adopted the following grading scale: • 60% Tests/Quizzes: Tests, quizzes and vocabulary tests in each unit (Students will be notified in advance of all tests/quizzes either verbally and/or on my website calendar. Some may be electronic.) • 10% Homework: This includes work from the textbook, online resources, worksheets and projects completed at home. • 30% Classwork/Notes checks/Test Corrections/In Class Projects: All work completed during class will go in this category. 1-2 times a quarter notes will be checked (in textbook and notebook) with advance notice given.

  8. Online Textbook Access • Each student will receive a user name and password to access the online textbook and tools. (I am waiting to receive these) • The website is on the front of their textbook. • This gives access to some homework solutions, extra examples, video tutors, extra practice and other very useful tools. • Some assignments may be assigned through the online website so students should practice logging in and you should practice navigating the site with them. • An online textbook is also available through the site, but your child should still be writing in their hard copy.

  9. Online Textbook Orientation
