  7. Christ is Coming:

  8. 1. To Raise The Dead • Jn. 5:28-29 • Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

  9. 2. To Judge All Accountable Souls • Acts 17:30-31 • Jn. 12:48 • Rom. 14:10 • Heb. 9:28

  10. Acts 17:30-31 • And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

  11. Jn. 12:48 • He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

  12. Rom. 14:10 • for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

  13. Heb. 9:28 • So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

  14. Heb. 9:28 • So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. ESV

  15. 3. To Deliver The Kingdom To The Father • Acts 2:30 • 1 Cor. 15:24-26

  16. Acts 2:30 • Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne

  17. 1 Cor. 15:24-26 • Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.[25] For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.[26] The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

  18. 4. To Reward The Righteous • Mt. 25:23 • 2 Tim. 4:8 • 1 Jn. 3:2

  19. Mt. 25:23 • His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

  20. 2 Tim. 4:8 • Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing

  21. 1 Jn. 3:2 • Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

  22. 5. To Take Vengeance On The Unrighteous – Those who die lost • 2 Th. 1:7-10 • Mt. 25:46

  23. 2 Th. 1:7-10 • And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,[8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

  24. 2 Th. 1:7-10 • [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;[10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

  25. Mt. 25:46 • And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

  26. Conclusion • 2 Pet. 3:11-12 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,[12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

  27. Conclusion • 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!
