  2. Outline • Turn in your permission forms for the interview. • Pay attention to the timer – it let’s us know when we need to move onto the next step. • Today we will: • Experiment with different soils to learn what nutrients are better in which type of soils. • Build a dish terrarium representing a desert biome.

  3. Germination Experiment • Blog/vlog and website • Check out the results of your germination experiments • Did your results match what you expected? Why or why not?

  4. Biomes • What characteristics make up a biome? • What other types of biomes are there? • What biome do we live in?

  5. Soil • What do plants get from the soil? • Are all soils the same? • How would you predict soil from Illinois compares to soil from other parts of the world? • Which areas have better soils? • Which areas have worse soils?

  6. Soil Experiment • Follow your PiV Mentor and test your soil for: • pH • Potassium concentration • Nitrogen concentration • Phosphorus concentration • While your experiment is setting, build your dish garden!

  7. Dish Garden

  8. Newscast • Choose a student to be the interviewer and the interviewee. • Write questions as if you were conducting an interview about today’s lesson. • Don’t forget to write and practice the answers as well! • Use the video camera to tape your groups interview. • Take photos of experiment when done 

  9. Next Week • Check in at the PiV website to see what we’ll be doing next week!
