Assessment and Multiple Measures • Other Test Scores: • Any of the following test can also be used to place you in English & Math: ACT, SAT and • CAASPP/EAP. • HS GPA/Grades: • Your overall High School GPA (“Non-weighted”) can also be used to place you. • Previous Course Work: • Previous college or high school courses (ERWC) in English and Math can alsobe used to place • you. • Assessments from Other Colleges: • Santa Ana College will also accept assessments test results from other colleges in English, • reading and math. Only if test were taken within two years from the date tested.

Vocational Certificates Certificates lead to entry level employment in specialized occupations OR upgrading employment. • Students pursing a certificate are interested in learning specific skills for a particular job. • General Education courses are typically NOT required to earn a Certificate. • Total units to earn a certificate vary, from 9 to 57 units. • Accounting • Auto Tech/Diesel Technology • Business Applications • Digital Media Arts • Child Development • Computer Info Systems/Computer Science • Engineering • Fashion Design Merchandising • Management • Manufacturing Technology • Medical Assistant • Paralegal • Pharmacy Technology • TV/Video Communications

Associate Degrees for Transfer • A.K.A Associate of Arts or Associate of Science for Transfer (AA-T & AS-T) • Designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU major and baccalaureate degree Benefits: • Guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system university • Priority admission consideration to local CSU campus in same cases • Slight GPA bump of .1 GPA for admission purposes for certain CSU’s

Freshman Success at Santa Ana College • Clarify the Path  - learn about all the academic programs available at SAC, identify your values, personality type, and interests as they relate your career and academic goals. • Enter the Path - declare a major with a focused outcome on graduation and/or transfer and develop a comprehensive educational plan that will help you reach your goal in the shortest time possible. • Stay on the Path - learn about and explore all of the support services available at SAC as well as the personal strategies required for success in college - time management, study skills, managing life, work, and college.​ • CSU and UC transferrable courses

Academic Calendar 2017-18 Fall 2018 • June 21st– Last Day to Pay for Classes • August 27th- Instruction Begins • September 9th- Last day to add and to drop full-term classes without“W” grade with enrollment fee refund for full semester. • November 18th- Last Day to Drop with a “W” for full semester. • December 16th- Instruction Ends

Academic Expectations You must maintain good academic standing at Santa Ana College What is “Good Academic Standing?” Maintaining above a 2.0 GPA Completing at least 50% of the units you enroll in • Academic Probation: If you’ve attempted at least 12 semester units and have a cumulative GPA is below a 2.0 • Progress Probation: If you’ve attempted at least 12 semester units and 50% or more of the course grades were recorded as W, I, NC or NP

Academic Expectations Failure to maintain Good Academic Standing may result in the loss of: Priority Registration • Students who have not met academic expectations for two consecutive semesters will be required to register after students who have fulfilled priority registration requirements and are in good academic standing. CA College Promise Grant (CCPG) ProgramFormally known as BOG Fee Waiver • Under new regulations, students will lose eligibility for the Board of Governors (BOG) Waiver if they have not met Academic expectations for two consecutive semesters starting Fall 2016. (Foster Youth are exempt from the policy).

College Success Tips • Utilize resources on campus • Talk to your professor(s) • Discover your best practices for learning • Study often • Don’t procrastinate (start on assignments early) • Manage your time (work, school, social life) • Get Involved • Ask for HELP!! • Attend The First Class Meeting – attendance at the first meeting of class is advised because of enrollment demands. Any student not reporting to the first class meeting may be dropped from the roll sheet.

Reminders • You are responsible for dropping courses that you no longer wish to take • Your instructor will NOT drop you • Failure to drop will result in a “F” • Be aware of the refund and drop date, listed on the class schedule (Web Advisor) • Last day to drop without a “W” is September 9th • Last day to drop with a “W”is November 18th • You are responsible for paying the college tuition and fees OR your classes will be DROPPED for non-payment. College Tuition and Fees Breakdown CA Resident Students (Per Semester) • Enrollment $46 per unit • Health Fees $19 per semester ($16 Summer) • Student Life & Leadership $10.00 ($5 Summer) • ID Card $2.50 • Student Representation Fee $2.00 • Parking Fees $30 per semester $20 (for CCPG Fee Waiver students) Estimated Cost Part-time student (6 units) $330 - $340 Full-time student (12-15 units) $600 - $750 AB540 Students Same as above if your CA residency paperwork has been processed.

  35. Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) This federal law is aimed at improving how colleges and universities address sexual violence. This law requires SAC to ensure our policies and practices comply with new regulations that prohibits acts of violence such as, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking, and it clarifies the rights of victims.
