Validation Procedures • After the MC RelVals for new version of CMSSW are released and posted on HN. • We pick up the jet datasets like QCD and TTbar to be run on our validation module. • We compare the histograms between new version and previous version. • If no discrepancy is indicated, we report this version pass. • If discrepancy is indicated, we ask the experts what causes this discrepancy. • The validation result can be found at http://highenergy.phys.ttu.edu/~keng/validation 3

  4. Status and Update • Status of moving to central DQM - Jet validation module was tested with DQM sequence. • Update new features - Reduced the bin size and remove unnecessary plots. - pT scale Vs Phi - pT response 4

  9. 4_2_0_ pre7 • In this release: Had energy missing in fullsim and changing in fastsim FullSim FastSim • Improper HO status in DB, which prevents HO from being properly used in MC CaloTowers (fix already submitted to the next pre-release GloblTag). 9

  10. 4_2_0_ pre8 • In this release: Jet pt scale in 1.3<|eta|<3.0 changes in fastsim wrt full wrt 4_2_0 pre7 • The change is for better agreement with FullSim than 420pre7 10

  11. 4_2_1 • In this release: the recent global tag picks the old JEC • Waiting for the new global tag for 42X and above 11

  12. 4_1_4 • In this release: Discrepancies are found in the JEC (both pT ratio and pT response) • This is the JEC closure improvement. The new JEC is applied. 12

JetMET Data validation We currently look at DQM plots created centrally and posted on DQM GUI • This validation using RelVal_run2010B dataset (previous valskim) for this validation • We do this validation for every new CMSSW version after MC RelVal validation The black line histogram is for new release.The filled histogram is for reference. 13

  15. Conclusion and Plans • Jet Validation is moving smoothly. • We have the JEC checked in DQM. • Waiting for the new global tags for 42X and above with the proper JEC. • The new tag for validation module will be submitted to CVS. 15
