18. Help your child be a successful middle school student. • Encourage your student to be a self-advocate! Communication!! • Support the following skill development: • Organization • Responsibility • Help set up an organizational system they can use at school and home to store assignments, tests and homework. • Help find a space at home to do homework that is free from distractions such as TV or noisy siblings.

19. Be prepared to listen and provide positive support regarding “middle school drama”. Let administrator know immediately if something doesn’t feel right. • Encourage your child to use their agenda book daily. • Check your teacher webpages for links to tips on how to help your middle school student be successful. • Work with your child on establishing a good time to do homework to maintain good study habits. • Help your child with homework, but do not do it for them!
