Best Practices AnalysisScan of barriers and facilitators in oral health services for seniors’.Critical analysis of experiences and lessons learned in Canada and elsewhere. • Conduct a scan for programs & services at 3 levels: • Seniors dental programs • Geriatric dental training • Seniors’ OH prevention / promotion services Conduct a scan of existing policies that address the OH of seniors: 4. Gov’t, insurance 5. National / international Conduct a review of the literature relating to OH of seniors
Limitations to Conventional Scan Cochranes and Campbells Published studies and research Minimal research on seniors’ OH programs Lack of secondary analyses Existing research identifies the need for further study OHS Scan Broad search with key words/variation from internet, popular press, non-academic literature Valuable information from contacts (VON, seniors’ groups) Used novel tools- listserves, email and word of mouth Program Scan
