Participate: knowledge from the margins for post 2015 Participate initiative - co-convened by IDS and the Beyond 2015 campaign Working with 18 PRG partners in 30 countries - to bring realities of poverty from the perspective of the poorest communities into the post 2015 policy debate Visual methods programme- exploring how visual processes can mediate ‘between the worlds’ of people living in poverty and national and global policy makers.

Visual methods Trainingin visual methods such as participatory video and digital story telling – key strategies to structure, and drive action research processes Support and direct accompaniementof visual processes in context Research synthesis and exhibition of visual materials Documentary film for high level panel

The documentary - not typical in narrative structure or production 20 minute compilation – 6 months 7 countries Purpose –for some of most marginalised communities to communicate stories directly to specific audience of policy makers(HLP) Grounding – emergent stories from PR processes – different ways in different settings Tensions – maintaining ground level ownership through production process e.g relational building process, parallel crews, collaborative story boarding

  6. Iteratively evolving processes What is shown by the stories about the unintended consequences of interventions, and what matters to people living in poverty? What can we learn about the dynamics of development processes and relationships? What are the lessons for policy and practice about how to build collaboration with those living in greatest poverty How can the film be used, and what obstacles are faced?
