The Electronic Database Available at: PromotionTenure.UAMS.edu
The Electronic Database • First time to the system- Request new user login • Once request has been granted, login using UAMS username and password
The Electronic Database • Once you login, click “Create New Request” • Fill in highlighted fields and hit “Submit” • Don’t forget secondary departments
Secondary Appointments • Indicate the request for a promotion in secondary appointment on the “create request” page of the electronic database • Include letter from Chair of secondary department • Note on cover of binder • List on cover sheet

Overviews • Overviews may go in Teaching/Mentoring, Research/Scholarly Activities, Clinical Service and Leadership/Administrative Service. • In the CV/General Overview Section, you may like to include an overview which is a Summary of Major Activities

DO! Important to label documents very clearly. This is how the committee will identify documents! DON’ T!
Numbers to Remember • 2 – copies of the paper packet • 5 – publications (BS, CS, CE – Associate Professor) • 10 – publications (BS, CS, CE – Professor) • Clinical Attendings are encouraged to submit scholarly publications. The Promotion and Tenure Guidelines do not stipulate how many.
Binder Labels • Required information: Name Candidate for (rank) With Tenure (if applicable) On the ---- Pathway Department of ------ October 2012
Basic Tips • Summary/Overview • Less is more • Be sure the CV is current • Easy to read • Sample packets are available for viewing in OFA
Top 5 Problems • Lack of documentation • Activities don’t reflect time reported on cover sheet • No, or inadequate, evaluations of teaching • Required letters inadequate, inappropriate • Wrong track
