  2. Adana Province • It is one of the big cities of Turkey with its population over 2.500.000

  3. Geography • Adana is established on both coast of the Seyhan River on very productive lands in the Mediterrenean Region. • Adana is dominated by the Mediterrenean climate, therefore winters are warm and rainy and summers are hot.

  4. History • Adana’s history goes back to the year 6000 BC because of its geographical situation. • It is cradle of many civilizations from Hitits to the Ottomans. It takes its name from the son of Uranus, who is the God of the sky, Adanus

  5. Industry • Adana has become the second big economy of Turkey in the early Republic time by means of cotton and citrus. In the later years the economy changed its shell and many factories in the fiels of textile, automotive, paper, iron stelli paint, cement, cigarette, candy,chocolate, petro chemical became active.

  6. Agriculture • In the most of productive plain, Çukurova, sunflower, olive, corn, citrus fruit, banana, kivi,sugar cane, ricesoybean, cotton, grape, nuts, almond, watermelon are grown pletily • Adana takes place in the first five in growing many agricultural goods.

  7. Tourism • 81.736 tourists visited Adana last year. 50 % of them are German, 23%are Cyprus citizens, 4% are Dutch and 3% are British

Art and Culture • Altın Koza International Film Festival • Altın Koza film festival which is one of the most important film festivals in Turkey is organised every year and many domestic and foreign films compete with each other during that festival • International Sabancı Theater Festival • Many theater groups put their shows on stage during that festival

  15. Art and Culture • 13 Kare International Arts Festival • It is the biggest activity that organized in the photography field. It was first organized in 1999 • International Çukurova Art Days takes place every April since 2007. 115 poets, painters, musicians and caricaturists from 10 different countries attended festival in 2009. • 77 talks, 13 concerts, 13 exhibitions, 4 panels and 23 film showing were held during the 4 days of the festival.

Education • 19.644 students attend pre elementary education in 514 schools • There are 720 primary schools with 324.288 students • 119.000 students are educated in 121 high schools of diffrent status • Number of university students is 27.136 • Çukurova University, Çağ University and Başkent University give higher education in Adana

  17. Cuisine • Cuisine of Adana influenced mainly from Yörük, Arabic and Armenian cuisine and the city kept to its traditions tightly. Spicy, sour and fatty dishes made of meat and bulghur are common. Bulghur and flour are found at all the kitchens in Çukurova. In almost every home, red pepper, spices, tahini, chopping block and pastry board can be found. • Adana Kebab, called "Kebap" locally, is a kebab made from minced meat. Adana Kebab is usually served with onion salad, green salad or with well-chopped tomato salad. Rakı and Şalgam are usually accompanied with it as drinks.

  19. Sports • Adanaspor and Adanademirspor are two well-known clubs of Adana that appear in Turkish Professional Football League. • Adana Metropolitan Municipality Rowing Club and Çukurova University Rowing Club • Both of them have raised a great number of sportsmen so far.

  20. Sports • One of the most popular sport in Adana is swimming. There are 35 public swimming pools in Adana which are in the responsibility of the Metropolitan Municipality. Riding is also popular in this city and horse-races are organised from time to time by Adana Atlı Spor Club
