  3. Press a key or mouse button to continue BGS Racing • You have lots of interesting and exciting ideas and want to use the IT skills you have to help. • To do this you have to create some new documents in order to raise money and help the team.

  5. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • First, lets find out how to use PAINT.NET • Have a look at the ICTweb, SOFTWARE section, PAINT.NET for lots of help!

  6. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • You MUST try the program out! • Can you find out what the tools do? • LAYERS – this is a way of building up an image in sections… one layer at a time • Follow the next slides and create the picture shown…

  7. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Use the PAINT BUCKET and fill the background blue • Then click on LAYERS, then click NEW LAYER

  8. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Select the rectangular drawing tool • Select green • Select the DRAW FILLED SHAPE option • Draw the green rectangle • See, it is shown on layer 2 (The “Background” is layer 1) • Add another NEW LAYER

  9. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Use the PAINTBRUSH tool • Set the BRUSH WIDTH to somewhere between 10 and 15 • Add some trees to the new layer! • Add another NEW LAYER

  10. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Select the PRIMARY colour as dark green • Select the SECONDARY colour as blue to match the sky • Select FILL as 75% • “Spray” on the leaves • Add another NEW LAYER

  11. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Using the RECTANGLE tool, LINE tool, FILL tool you can create the house on one layer! • (You could use a layer for the bricks, then a layer for the windows etc!) • No CLOUDS! Click on the BACKGROUND layer

  12. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • PRIMARY is white, SECONDARY is grey • Select the PAINTBRUSH • Select 20% • Use the LEFT mouse button and then the RIGHT mouse button and spray on the clouds! • You will see you CAN’T destroy the trees because they are on a different layer!

  13. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Now to make it look a bit better using EFFECTS • On the BACKGROUND layer, use this GAUSSIAN BLUR to blend the clouds • Move to LAYER 3 and do the same for the trees!

  14. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • Now go to LAYER 3 with the trees • Select the EFFECT for UNFOCUS to take the trees out of focus

  15. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • SAVE IT! • Now we will save it again as a JPG • You will have to select FLATTEN as you save it! • Then I want you to INSERT this picture (JPG) into a WORD document… does it look ok?

  17. Press a key or mouse button to continue PAINT.NET • You can do better than this though! • Have a go… • Try the different effects…

  18. Press a key or mouse button to continue BGS RACING • Now you can use PAINT.NET, you have to make the new logo for BGS RACING • Make it good! • Make it stand out! • Use layers to build it up! • Make it be for a F1 team!!
