The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has permeated the application of computers in the learning process, which is generally known as computer assisted learning (CAL). A computer as a medium is used for the sake of facilitating people in learning, such as learning a language. However a computer is solely a tool and a medium. Hence, it is powerless and is totally dependent on the users. In this case, the computers is an intermediary; it is merely a part of the entire learning process ( Hartoyo, 2006 ).
The impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development on language education has been widely countenanced. Ballenden (1984) points out that computer technology will increasingly penetrate all areas of life, including education. • The development of Information and Communication Technology that has followed the development of computer technology has stimulated people especially those who work in the field of education, such as teachers, curriculum planners and media designers, to endeavour to carry out experiments and studies on me possibilities of utilising computers for educational purposes
