  2. What is La bombonera??? Estadio Alberto J. Armando La Bombonera is a football stadium in Argentina . The team that plays in La Bombonera is Boca Juniors. The stadium is located in the La Boca district of Buenos Aires. It is widely known as La Bomboneradue due to its shape, with a "flat" stand on one side of the pitch and three steep stands round the rest of the stadium .

  4. La Bombonera La Bombonera is a historical football stadium . It was built in 1940 and has 49,000 seats. The opening match (Boca-San Lorenzo 2:0 ) to La Bombonera was played in 25 May 1940

  5. La Bombonera Alberto J. Armando Stadium was inaugurated in 1940 under the name 'Coliseo de la Boca'. The name not only reflects its impressive size, but also the fact that it rises spectacularly between the houses of the Boca quarter, one of the most characterising quarters of Buenos Aires. At the day of inauguration, the stadium was surprisingly nicknamed 'Bombonera' as it is most commonly known these days. When engineer José L. Delpini was about to inaugurate the stadium, he received a thanking box of chocolates from his co-workers called 'bombones'. Funnily enough, the box had the same shape as the stadium and when looking at the box, engineer Delpini exclaimed: "This stadium looks like a box of 'bombones'!" With these words, the myth of Bombonera was born.

  6. History • Work began on constructing the stadium on 18 February 1938, and Boca played their home matches at the Ferro Carril Oeste Stadium until the new stadium was built. The stadium finally opened on 25 May 1940 with a friendly match between Boca and San Lorenzo, which the home side won 2-0 with both goals score by Ricardo Alarcón. The stadium, which was originally named Estadio Camilo Cichero, after then club president, Camil Cichero, had two tiers, and in 1949 the club decided to add a third tier, which was completed in 1953,6 giving the stadium its nickname La Bombonera.

History • Floodlights were installed in 1952, so that games could be played in the evenings and thus allowing the stadium to host international matches. • The side opposite the Casa Amarilla railway platforms remained mostly unbuilt until the 1990s, when it was upgraded with new balconies and executive boxes, when between 1995 and 1996 the stadium underwent a major renovation, under Mauricio Macri’s presidency in order to raise its capacity from 49,000 to 57,395. The old Executive boxes on Del Valle Iberlucea Street were demolished and replaced by a small tier over which the current executive boxes were built.

  8. History • The stadium was officially renamed Estadio Alberto J. Armando on 27 December 2000, named after Alberto Armando a former club president who had promised a major renovation of La Bombonera after his election in 1975, but whose plans were delayed by the country's political and economical situation at the time. • Only four Brazilian football clubs have beaten Boca Juniors at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando in competitive matches: Santos, Cruzeiro, Paysandu and most recently Internacional who beat Boca 2-1 at the stadium in the quarter-final, second leg of the Copa Sudamericana2008 on 6 November 2008. While Grêmio won a friendly match in the 1960s.

  11. Other One idol for the international football started his fantastic career from Boca Juniors and La Bombonera .He made the first steps in his career and he ‘‘wrote history’’ in this stadium. The name of the legend of football is Diego Armando Marandona!

  12. Our Suggestion We think Estadio Alberto J. Armando is a historical stadium and is stage for the Boca Juniors and for the Argentinean Football, in general. We think that the atmosphere fans create in every match is fantastic and also unique in the whole world. This stadium has seen big achievements of the Argentinean Football from Boca and from the national team! If we were from the Argentina we would be proud to have La Bombonera in my country!
