FALL FEASTS 3 Fall Feasts: 5. Yom Teruah/Trumpets: Repentance (Teshuvah) Sept. 8 this year; also called Rosh haShana 6. Yom Kippur: Redemption 7. Tabernacles: Rejoicing Yom Teruah is known by many names, including: The time of Jacob’s Trouble, the day of the Awakening blast, day of Judgment, Wedding of the Messiah, Coronation of the Messiah, and The Hidden Day (Yom haKeseh).
FALL FEASTS Trumpets On the Feast of Trumpets, the Shofar is blown 100 times. There are three sounds made with the shofar: Tekiah – one long straight blast. Shevarim – three shorter blasts. Teruah – 9 quick blasts in short succesion. This series is blown 11 times for a total of 99 blasts, and the final blast is know as: “The Last Trump”!
FALL FEASTS But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Mark 3:32 What does it really mean? When you look at the specific context of Jesus statement and its cultural meaning, you find that this statement actually tells an important detail about the timing of his coming, rather than discourage us from studying to understand that question.
FALL FEASTS It does not say "shall not know" the month or year but do not know the day or hour. This phrase is actually the Hebrew idiom for the "Feast that no man knows the day or hour", that is, Yom haKeseh, (The Hidden Day). "Yom Teruah" / "Feast of Trumpets". This is the only feast day that you do not know in advance exactly when it is going to start because it happens on the day of the visiblenew moon of the 7th month.
FALL FEASTS 10 Days of Awe or Days of Repentance This is a time for serious introspection, a time to consider the sins of the previous year and repent before Yom Kippur. Among the customs of this time, it is common to seek reconciliation with people you may have wronged during the course of the year. The Talmud maintains that Yom Kippur atones only for sins between man and God. To atone for sins against another person, you must first seek reconciliation with that person, righting the wrongs you committed against them if possible. New Testament parallel: Matthew 18 The Shabbat that occurs in this period is known as Shabbat Shuvah (the Sabbath of Return). This is considered a rather important Shabbat.
FALL FEASTS Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.1Corinthians 15:51-52. Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? Yahweh strong and mighty, Yahweh mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? Yahweh of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah Psalm 24:7-10
FALL FEASTS Yom Kippur "And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: "Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God." Leviticus 23:27-28 Yom Kippur is Hebrew for Day of Atonement. Tonight we see why this is the most important date for all believers in Jesus, the Lamb of God. The feasts of the Lord in Lev. 23 are prophetic pictures and are fulfilled exactly in Jesus.
FALL FEASTS The Day of Atonement is where the high priest offered the blood sacrifice to cover Israel's sins for another year. This is fulfilled in Jesus as our high priest who has offered the blood of His own sacrifice for our sin. This is not for a year, but for all eternity! Thank you Jesus. We now wait for the final fulfillment of His judgment, which will occur during the final harvest, when Jesus returns in triumph!
FALL FEASTS But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?Hebrews 9:11-14
FALL FEASTS And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; Hebrews 9:22-24
FALL FEASTS not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another -- He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.Hebrews 9:25-28
FALL FEASTS Was God surprised? ...that temple sacrifices did not remove sin? For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Hebrews 10:1-4
FALL FEASTS And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. Hebrews 10:11-14
FALL FEASTS Tabernacles Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot/Booths Also: Feast of Nations, Feast of Ingatherings or Harvest Leviticus 23:39 Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of Yahweh for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your God for seven days.
FALL FEASTS You shall keep it as a feast to Yahweh for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am Yahweh your God. So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts of Yahweh. Leviticus 23:39-44.
FALL FEASTS Yahweh is my strength and song, and is become my salvation/Yeshua. The voice of rejoicing and salvation/Yeshua is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of Yahweh doeth valiantly. Psalm 118:14-15 CELEBRATION AND REJOICING And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of Godis with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. Revelation 21:3
