Weld Booths System Needs and Proposed Solution • Primary Needs: • Standardize weld booth • Better use of space by eliminating unnecessary equipment/materials • Allow welders the flexibility to use any weld booth • Install visual controls to ensure welder is always busy • Construct exhaust system to remove gasses generated from welding Suggested Solution: • Add pipe rollers to weld booths • Productivity → Provide greater flexibility • Eliminate argon tanks with direct piping • Safety & Productivity → Eliminate the need for welders to go outside and fill up argon tanks (currently 2x per week), alleviating unnecessary lifting and walking • Dig trenches for cords • Safety → Eliminate cords from lying along the floor • Install visual control system (green/white lights) • Productivity → Make pipe-fitters aware of when/which welder needs work and make pipe-fitters aware of when welder has completed work • Simple exhaust system (add oscillating fans between weld booths) • Safety → Welding curtains can remain closed and decrease potential for weld flashing
