Baths • In bath complexes there were: • cold baths (the frigidarium), • a warm baths (the tepidarium) • hot baths (the caldarium). • exercise area (the palaestra), • a swimming pool • gymnasium. • Public baths were popular because it was expensive and hard to install a bath in a home
Theatre • 2 theaters, odeum and regualar theater • Odeum had roof and was for an educated crowd • Regular theater had plays usually rustic • There were entrances at sides and the back for actors • No scenery used location was announced
coliseum • Oldest surviving roman ampitheater • A vicious fight between the pompeiins and the Nuceria caused a ten year ban on gladiator fights and events in the ampitheater • Constructed 70 B.C. • Held gladiator fights, athletic competitions, and games
