Background: Hypertension Having a Systolic pressure of 140 and a Diastolic pressure of 90 is considered hypertensive
Background: Liver The Liver regulates our metabolism, detoxifies the body, synthesizes proteins and most important to this study, produces Bile.
Bile • Bile is needed for digestion to occur • Emulsifies fat • Helps absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K
Common Bile Duct • The common bile duct is 4mm in diameter and 1mm thick
Hypothesis • Hypertension contributes to the onset of obesity because increased pressure in the common bile duct should inhibit bile flow and cause fats that should pass to begin to store in the body.
Purpose • To propose a new causation in the development of obesity • Show correlation of hypertension and liver enzymes as a key contributor to obesity • To reduce the prevalence of obesity starting in the African American community
Future Endeavors If my hypothesis is correct and I can generate a strong enough correlation between hypertension and inhibited bile production and flow, I will continue the study by examining vasoconstriction in the common bile duct through Choloangiography. From there I will explore preventative and or corrective measures through exercise to reduce vasoconstriction in our vessels.
