  2. Deep in my heart, I knew calm.

  3. I dreamed of a lively river, fish jumping, dragonflies humming.

  4. Deep in my heart I knew the joy of being alive and in the flow of life.

  5. Many rivers and oceans threaded through my dreams

  6. Painting pictures of my state of heart.

  7. One day, everything changed. Words were hard to find, yet my dreams found a way.

  8. I dreamed I was swimming in a pool and suddenly all the water drained away

  9. Deep in my heart sorrow found a place to hide and closed the door.

  10. And so I was able to smile, and laugh and play, yet the silver lake was never quite as calm, the river never quite as clear, and the fish never quite as lively as before.

  11. Deep in my heart sorrow filled its hiding place with an ocean of tears, and grew and grew.

  12. I dreamed of a tsunami, a giant wall of water rushing towards me

  13. Deep in my heart, sorrow’s grief pounded at the door, needing to be acknowledged, needing to be soothed.

  14. I dreamed I ran from the tsunami, in fear.

  15. I awoke and remembered that water dreams are watercolour paintings of my state of heart

  16. My tsunami dream showed I was afraid of soothing my own tears from a long ago sorrow.

  17. I knew I couldn’t run forever. A tsunami always catches up with you in the end.

  18. I imagined being back in my dreams. I turned to face the tsunami and jumped into the wave.

  19. I relaxed into the wave, and as I relaxed, the wave relaxed and sighed a deep let-go sigh.

  20. In my imagining I calmed the wave and real tears ran down my face, released at last.

  21. That night I dreamed a rainbow

  22. And since that day, the silver lake is calmer, the river clearer and the fish more lively than ever before.
