Dubai, A Fantastic Shopping Arcade When I think of that old winter, back in 2015, I still feel my tuxedo suit filled with golden sand- like memories of the desert, straight from the heart of Dubai. Going through ideas about how to spend our vacation, Dubai was just another option but finally, with an Emirates flight, the trip was ‘on’. To be honest, shopping had always been a kind of love for me and my family. Sometimes, a decision taken on a whim can be an event of a lifetime and it was definitely one of those moments. I was still not sure about the whole trip but was pleasantly surprised when we landed at Dubai International Airport (DXB). Comfy weather greeted us making us glad that we chose to make that trip. We rushed to our pre-booked hotel to enjoy a light evening since I was aware, the next morning would be screamer of shopping. I’m happy that the internet exists and through it, my sisters came to know that Dubai is a duty free state. I would say that the night of 21st December, 2015 was scary for me. Scotch went a bit heavy and almost got me into trouble when my dad caught me sleeping on the roof. I was actually enjoying a view of the splendid Burj Khalifa with a spot light of silver lines over the sky. At 7.30 A.M, I heard a loud bang on my door and I knew that I was late. It was time for shopping. At the end, all the great discounts of the shopping festival overwhelmed us with a whole lot of savings and bags full of goodies. Held in the months of December and January, if some of you are hoping for a great shopping experience, then please be a guest of this generous festival and shop for the whole year like we did; and keep finding new clothes from those bags all year through! Dubai Mall was our first target but we had our plans set since we knew Dubai is known for its Carpets, Electronics, Gold, Pashminas, Arabic Perfumes, Spices, Chocolates and fashion. So, we went through those places and lines of mall including street shops of Dubai as if we were there to accomplish a task. When I say accomplish a task, I actually mean it because shopping in Dubai is never an easy call when you are with your family that includes two fashionistas in the form of sisters. Starting from the ground floor, Dubai Mall was an epic experience. It has around 1000+ retailers, branches of chain-stores like Bloomingdales and Galleries Lafayette. I was like awestruck for a moment when I saw that world famous Dubai Aquarium with underwater exhibits and high end Fashion Avenue like Chanel, Fendi and Dior etc. Endless winter collection was truly inspiring and thanks to the wonderful sales-ladies there for their help and awareness of brands. Mall of the Emirates was second in our venture and unparalleled to any other. It was an architectural marvel with many options of indoor entertainment and shopping centres. The Ultrachic Fashion dome was a busy hub. The sense of fashion is subject to change in Dubai and Mall of emirates would actually change your taste as it has wholesome collection of brands. My father-- a fan of tools and technology—is actually an admirer of Nicolas Tesla. His inventions like gate of wizard fascinate him to no end and so it was natural for him to visit Emax electronics. It has around 40 stores around Dubai. He brought many e-accessories from there and a few kitchen appliances which earned him some praise from my mom. The next big thing on the cards was gold. ‘Gold Souk’ of Dubai is a traditional hub where we went to buy some of the best that the scintillating city has to offer. My mom was happy about the fact that Dad was being more responsible. The fact that he took the initiative to buy her some gold as an anniversary gift made her the happiest. In between shopping ventures, we had a great time eating some of the best cuisines of Dubai and went to some of the best in-house restaurants. We even got to spend some time in an adventure park.

2. In 1st week of Jan, 2016, we came back with a whole lot of memories which a person needs to experience to understand its thrill. The best part is that some of the bags are still filled up to the top with all the duty-free products.
